Boudh: In a major breakthrough, Boudh police on Wednesday arrested a man and rescued two girls in a human trafficking case under the jurisdiction of Manamunda Police Station in Boudh district.
The arrested person has been identified as Sambaru Jagadala, a resident of Talapada village under Harabhanga Tehsil. Four other accused managed to escape during the operation.
According to SDPO Laren Routray, a complaint was received at Manamunda Police Station on January 14 (Wednesday) stating that a girl was kidnapped by miscreants while returning from college and was being trafficked. Acting swiftly, the police team, led by the Manamunda Police IIC, reached the scene, arrested Jagadala, and rescued the girl.
During interrogation, Jagadala revealed his involvement in earlier trafficking activities, including sending a girl to Rajasthan. Following instructions from Boudh SP Rahul Goel, a police team traveled to Rajasthan and rescued the girl, who is now safe.
“The remaining four accused are still absconding, but they will be apprehended soon, as all the accused are residents of the Manamunda Police Station area. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the syndicate completely,” said SDPO Routray.
