Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident, a man has been arrested by the police in connection with the alleged murder of his uncle, who was hacked to death with a spade late last night in Tulsinagar under the Town Police Station limits in Bolangiri.
The accused, Aju Bisi, was initially detained and later arrested after preliminary investigation.
The gruesome crime unfolded around 11 pm when locals discovered victim Jadumani Bagarti lying in a pool of blood at his residence. Despite initial silence from nearby residents, the presence of a broken spade near the body immediately pointed to foul play.
Police sources confirmed that the weapon was used to inflict fatal injuries on the victim. Upon receiving the information, officers from the Town Police Station rushed to the scene and promptly shifted Jadumani to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Investigations have revealed that a long-standing family dispute is suspected to be the motive behind the brutal killing. Preliminary probes indicate that Aju Bisi, the nephew, allegedly attacked Jadumani with the spade during an altercation. The accused has been taken into custody for further interrogation and to aid the ongoing investigation.
The incident has left the local residents stunned. Police have launched a thorough probe to gather evidence, including statements from witnesses and forensic analysis of the crime scene.
