Bhubaneswar: The Police Commissionerate Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has announced traffic restrictions and diversions for the State Level Republic Day Parade 2026 on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and its periphery.
The restrictions will be effective on January 22 and 23 from 1 pm to 6 pm, January 24 from 6 am to 11:30 am, and January 26 from 6 am till the completion of the parade.
As per the restriction, no heavy vehicles will be allowed towards Master Canteen Square from Ram Mandir or Rajmahal side. Besides, two-wheelers and light motor vehicles will be allowed from Rajmahal side towards Ram Mandir side through Master Canteen Square only.
Besides, no vehicles shall be allowed to proceed towards Rabindra Mandap side from Housing Board side and those vehicles shall be diverted at Keshari talkies crossing.
Also, no vehicle shall be allowed to move towards PMG Square from AG square and those vehicles shall be diverted at Jaydev Bhawan Square towards IDCOL auditorium side. That apart, all kinds of vehicles coming from 120 Bn. Square side shall be diverted towards Unit-IV at MLA colony crossing.
Besides, vehicles will be diverted at Keshari Talkies crossing, Jaydev Bhawan Square, and MLA Colony crossing. All lanes touching Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be sealed, allowing only pedestrians.
Going by the instruction, designated parking areas for the Republic Day Parade in Bhubaneswar include BDA Bus Stand near Railway Station, open space in front of Congress Bhawan, IDCOL Auditorium, Jaydev Bhawan, SBI Unit-III, Rabindra Mandap, and Unit-II Girls’ High School Ground.
Most importantly, the sale of gas balloons is prohibited from PMG Square to Master Canteen Square on January 26, 2026, from 6 am until the parade concludes. Violating this order will result in a fine under Section 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act 2003.
The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, has meanwhile urged citizens to use alternative routes and cooperate with traffic authorities.
