Bhubaneswar: A state-level preparatory meeting was held on Thursday evening at the conference hall of Lok Seva Bhawan, chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg, in view of the six-day visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Odisha from February 2 to February 7, 2026.
According to the itinerary finalised at the meeting, the President will arrive in Bhubaneswar on the evening of February 2 and attend courtesy meetings at Lok Bhawan before staying overnight there.
On February 3, the President will visit Jajpur in the morning to offer prayers at the Maa Biraja Temple and perform rituals at Nabhi Gaya. She will later proceed to Balasore to attend the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Fakir Mohan University. In the evening, she will visit Puri to have darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple, participate in Aarti, and perform Pind Daan.
On February 4, President Murmu will tour Mayurbhanj district, where she will inaugurate the Holiday Home at Mahuldiha in Rairangpur and visit a Girls’ Higher Secondary School run by the Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste Development Department. She will unveil the statue of Bhanj Bir Sunaram Soren and inaugurate a sports complex at Baidpur. In the afternoon, she will attend foundation-laying and inauguration programmes for various development projects in Rairangpur.
The President is scheduled to attend a special programme at the Rairangpur Jagannath Temple on February 5 before visiting Similipal. On February 6, she will interact with women and tribal youth groups in the morning and later attend the “Black Swan Summit India” in Bhubaneswar, jointly organised by the Government of Odisha and the Global Finance Technology Network.
President Murmu will depart from Bhubaneswar for Chhattisgarh on the morning of February 7.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held to ensure the smooth conduct of all programmes. The Chief Secretary directed all concerned Secretaries, District Collectors, and Superintendents of Police to personally supervise arrangements to avoid any lapses.
Key arrangements discussed included airport reception and farewell, security and fire safety, uninterrupted power supply, motorcade planning, medical services, road repairs, sanitation, drinking water facilities, barricading, issuance of passes, and media coordination. A control room will be set up by the Home Department for overall coordination.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, DG Fire Services Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi, and Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, among others.
Collectors and SPs of Jajpur, Balasore, Puri, and Mayurbhanj districts joined the meeting virtually and briefed officials on preparedness.
