Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a warm meeting with prominent saints of the revered Mahima cult from Joranda in Dhenkanal district. The saints extended a heartfelt invitation to the Chief Minister to grace the forthcoming world-famous Magha Mela (also known as Joranda Mela), a major annual pilgrimage and spiritual congregation held at the Mahima Gadi in Joranda.

The mela, observed on the full moon day of Magha month commemorates the salvation anniversary of Mahima Swami, the founder of the faith, and draws lakhs of devotees, ascetics, and followers each year.

During the cordial interaction, CM Majhi spent quality time engaging in discussions with the venerable saints on advancing the principles of Mahima Dharma, enhancing the overall development of the sacred Peetha (seat), and preserving its cultural significance.

The Chief Minister expressed deep gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon him by the saints. Highlighting his government’s dedication, Majhi stated that the government remains steadfastly committed to nurturing the state’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

Drawing inspiration from the profound teachings of poet-saint Bhim Bhoi, he affirmed that such divine blessings from the saints will further energize efforts toward the welfare and progress of the people of Odisha.

“Inspired by the ideals of the poet Bhim Bhoi, our government is always committed to the cultural and spiritual development of Odisha. This blessing of the venerable saints will give us more strength and inspiration for the welfare of the people of the state,” Majhi stated.

The upcoming Magha Mela in 2026 will take place on January 31 in Joranda.
