Bhubaneswar: The Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department of Odisha government seized three trucks loaded with paddy from West Bengal at a toll gate in Jaleswar, Balasore.
The trucks were carrying approximately 1800 sacks of paddy, weighing about 900 quintals, suspected to be meant for inter-state supply.
The department officials detained three drivers of the trucks and seized documents for investigation. No official reaction has been obtained from the officials or truck owners so far.
The Odisha government has been taking strict measures to curb illegal paddy inflow from neighboring states, deploying special enforcement teams in border districts to ensure transparency in paddy procurement.
