Bhubaneswar: A notorious bank robber was injured in an encounter with police in a forest in Barbil of Keonjhar district.
Sipu Kumar, involved in the Bank of Maharashtra robbery, was hiding in the Tankra jungle on the Odisha-Jharkhand border. Police launched an operation and opened fire when Sipu attempted to flee, injuring him in the leg. He was admitted to Barbil hospital in a critical condition.
The robbery occurred a few days ago, with Sipu escaping while three others were arrested. He had multiple cases against him in several olice stations in Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand and was a wanted inter-state criminal, hailing from Pipara village of Patna district in Bihar.
