Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has hailed the recent India-US trade agreement, stating that it will position Odisha as a key player in the global semiconductor supply chain and boost the state’s traditional industries.
In his social media post, Majhi highlighted that the agreement will leverage Odisha’s rich rare-earth mineral resources, making it a hub for advanced technology and innovation.
“India-US tech partnership puts Odisha on the global semiconductor map. With rising demand for our rare-earth minerals, we’ll become a hub for cutting-edge tech and innovation. This deal connects Odisha’s mineral wealth to ‘Global Tech’”, read CM Majhi’s post.
In a separate post, CM Majhi also expressed optimism about the impact on Odisha’s handloom and textile sector, saying that the easing of duties will increase exports and create new employment opportunities for weavers and artisans.
The CM also maintained that the state’s traditional attire will create a new trend in the global market.
“Whether Odisha’s handloom or modern readymade garments; as a result of the India-USA trade agreement, Odisha’s craftsmanship will now reach everywhere. Due to the easing of duties, exports will become easier, which will open new avenues of employment for our weavers and handloom artisans. Odisha’s traditional attire will now create a new trend in the global market”, read Majhi’s X handle.
The trade deal is expected to unlock new avenues for Odisha’s growth, connecting its mineral resources with global tech giants and showcasing its rich cultural heritage to the world.
