Phulbani: In a significant blow to the banned CPI (Maoist) organization, four PM (Party Member) rank underground cadres surrendered before the Kandhamal Police, renouncing violence and joining the mainstream.
The cadres, identified as Ganga Kunjami @ Jiten, Muchaki Mase @ Sumitra, Chomali Kunjam @ Santila, and Bandi Madvi @ Malati, laid down arms, ammunition, and other articles during the surrender.
The surrendered cadres, all residents of Chhattisgarh, formally renounced violence, severed ties with extremist activities, and expressed faith in the democratic process. They surrendered with a cache of explosives, arms, and ammunition, including an SLR rifle and Bore gun.
The main reasons for their surrender include regular appeals by Odisha Police, increased pressure from Security Forces, disillusionment with the ideology, leadership vacuum, lack of local support, and the New Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation Policy of the Odisha government.
The surrendered cadres will receive benefits under the policy, including:
– Rs 10 lakh reward money
– Interim relief of Rs 25,000 each
– House under Antyodaya Gruha Yojana
– One-time marriage incentive of Rs 25,000
– Free skill development programs
– Stipend of Rs 10,000 per month for 36 months
– Health card and free ration under PMGKAY
Odisha Police Department assures full support, protection, and assistance to the surrendered cadres, enabling them to rebuild their lives with dignity and security. The DGP, Odisha, appeals to CPI (Maoist) cadres and leaders to surrender and join the mainstream society.
