SCSTRTI To Host 15-Day Live Tribal Art And Craft Showcase In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI), Odisha, is organizing a 15-day Live Demonstration Programme of Tribal Art and Craft at the Odisha State Tribal Museum in Bhubaneswar, from February 7 to 21, 2026.

The initiative aims to promote, preserve, and showcase Odisha’s rich tribal art heritage by providing a platform for skilled tribal artisans from across the state. Artisans specializing in Idtal painting, Saura painting, and Bamboo craft will demonstrate traditional techniques and share the cultural stories behind their work.

ITDA Gunupur (Rayagada) has sponsored five artisans to exhibit Idtal and Saura paintings, while ITDA Kaptipada, Udala (Mayurbhanj) has nominated five bamboo craft experts from the Mahali tribe. The artisans will display sustainable craft practices passed down through generations, giving visitors a rare opportunity to witness these skills live.

The programme is expected to attract students, researchers, tourists, and art enthusiasts, while also providing livelihood support and wider recognition for tribal artisans. Sudhakar Sabaro, Director of SCSTRTI, highlighted that such initiatives are vital for safeguarding tribal heritage and creating awareness of indigenous art forms.
