Bhubaneswar: A groom heading to his wedding in Khordha from Balasore’s Soro got stuck in a traffic jam at Jaydev Vihar Square in Bhubaneswar on Thursday when protesters blocked the National Highway as part of the Bharat Bandh.
The tense situation led to prolonged congestion, with vehicles piled up on the highway.
As per reports, Abdul Faim Khan’s wedding convoy came to a grinding halt at the bustling Jaydev Vihar Square, as protesters enforcing the Bharat Bandh blocked the National Highway. The desperate groom, en route to his big day in Khordha from Balasore’s Soro, was left stranded amidst a sea of demonstrators and a maddening traffic jam, with tensions running high and time ticking away.
The desperate groom, roaming the streets in a bid to salvage his big day, made a heartfelt plea to the protesters.
Talking to the media, he said, “We knew about the Bharat Bandh, but our wedding date was fixed way before it was announced. We have already spent so much, it’s impossible to change plans at the last minute. I request you, please let our vehicle pass.”
His appeal, however, fell on deaf ears, and it was only after police arrived, detained the protesters and cleared the blockade, allowing the groom’s vehicle to finally move.
