Man Dies, Uncle Critical In Road Mishap While Returning From Jagar Jatra

Bhubaneswar: A person died and his uncle received critical injuries when the bike they were riding lost balance and hit a tree in Lakaguda under Mathili police limits in Malkangiri district in the wee hours of Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Damu Nayak (35), a resident of Kalliaguda village, while his uncle Dhan Bhumiaya (45) from Kartanapali village is fighting for life. Both were returning from Jagara Yatra after witnessing the Mahadeepa ceremony at midnight.

Locals rushed them to a nearby hospital, where Damu was declared dead. Dhan was later shifted to Mathili Community Health Centre for further treatment.

Mathili police have seized the bike and launched an investigation into the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem and will be handed over to the family after the procedure.
