Bhubaneswar: Two juvenile inmates, held at a special observation home in Angul district, allegedly escaped from the facility.
According to reports, the incident occurred on February 14, between 4 pm and 5 pm, when the two minors managed to flee by squeezing through a drain opening.
However, the escape came to light after the authorities noticed the absence of the two juveniles during a routine check. One of the escaped minors is a resident of Oupada police limits in Balasore district, while the other hails from Haripur village under Tangi police limits in Cuttack district.
At the time of the incident, all the children at the observation home were reportedly engaged in play activities, which provided the two minors with an opportunity to slip away unnoticed. Despite carrying out extensive searches in and around the facility, the authorities were unable to trace the escaped juveniles.
Finding no other go, the counsellor of the special observation home lodged a complaint at the local police station. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case.
Meanwhile, police have initiated a manhunt to apprehend the absconding juveniles and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding their escape.
