Former Forest Officer Convicted In Corruption Case

Bhubaneswar: Former Range Officer of Kuarmunda Forest Range, Panposh, has been convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, in a case related to corruption and abuse of power.

Bharat Kumar Ghadei, was charged with releasing seized forest produce to offenders without registering cases, causing loss to the government and gaining pecuniary benefits.

The court sentenced Ghadei to two years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988, and IPC sections 201/202/213/217/120-B.

The Odisha Vigilance will now move to stop Ghadei’s pension following his conviction. Ghadei retired under DFO, Rourkela.
