Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed the Odisha Assembly that out of 74,224 Anganwadi centres in the state, 19,145 do not have their own buildings.
Responding to a query raised by MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Balabantaray on districts lacking Anganwadi buildings and measures to address the issue, Deputy Chief Minister Parida outlined the details, highlighting the districts grappling with this issue. Topping the list is Balasore with 1701 Anganwadi centres lacking own buildings, followed closely by Cuttack with 1310 and Mayurbhanj with 1202.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the House that the state government is actively working to address this issue. Efforts are underway to identify suitable land and allocate necessary funds for constructing buildings for these centres. The process involves coordination with various departments, including Revenue, Panchayati Raj, and Water Resources, to expedite the construction process.
