Bhubaneswar: Ramachandi police arrested a third suspect, in connection with the brutal murder of transgender Anjali.
The accused identified as , Chhabina Kandi (35) was hiding in a hut near Barapada village under Ramachandi police station’s jurisdiction.
According to reports, Chhabina had been on the run since the incident. Acting on a tip-off, Ramachandi police station officer Bichitra Nanda Parida led a raid and arrested him. He was then handed over to the Pipili police who are investigating the case.
It is pertinent to note that Krishna Kandi (25), main accused in the Anjali murder case, was arrested by police near Nayara petrol pump on the Pipili-Bhubaneswar Bypass, 11 days after the murder. Within 24 hours, another suspect, Sunil Kandi alias Geja (22), was picked up from Mathasahi under Konark police station.
The trio had reportedly snatched transgender Anjali’s vanity bag, leading to a scuffle. The trio then allegedly stabbed Anjali to death in a brutal manner.
