Bhubaneswar: Odisha currently has 1,124 vacant posts across key administrative services, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to a question by Lanjigarh MLA Pradip Kumar Dishari, the Chief Minister said that out of 4,741 sanctioned posts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Forest Service (IFS), Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), Odisha Police Service (OPS), and Odisha Finance Service (OFS), 248 IAS, 195 IPS, 141 IFS, 2,248 OAS, 851 OPS, and 1,058 OFS positions are currently filled. The remaining 1,124 posts—comprising 42 IAS, 67 IPS, 66 IFS, 330 OAS, 146 OPS, and 473 OFS posts—remain vacant.
The Chief Minister clarified that positions in the IAS, IPS, and IFS are filled by the Central Government. For the vacant posts in the OAS, OPS, and OFS, the state government takes the necessary measures to ensure timely recruitment.
He further added that 27 IAS officers, 28 IPS officers, and seven IFS officers are presently on central deputation.
