Bhubaneswar: Six public sector units (PSUs) are running into losses, the informed Minister Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) and Public Enterprises Krushna Chandra Mahapatra today in the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
Minister’s reply came in response to a question by MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati , who sought to know the reasons behind the continued operation of loss-making PSUs.
Mahapatra, provided a list of government corporations that are currently under liquidation or facing operational challenges.
The list includes GRIDCO Ltd, Odisha State Financial Corporation, Odisha Rural Housing and Development Corporation Limited, Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) and Odisha Pisciculture Development Corporation Limited.
According to Minister, the reasons for their continued operation include huge liabilities, employment generation goals, and strategic importance. However, the state government is working to revive these PSUs and make them profitable.
