Jajpur: Police have arrested five people, including the victim’s younger brother, for allegedly poisoning a 39-year-old man to death in Jajpur district. The victim, Santosh Malik, was allegedly laced with poison and killed over a property dispute.
The accused, identified as Prasant Malik, Purnachandra Malik, Gajendra Malik, Kailas Malik, and Sanatan Malik, had reportedly hatched a conspiracy to kill Santosh after he had Prasant arrested earlier for assaulting his wife.
All the accused belong to Arangabad-Anandpur village of Bari block in Jajpur.
Santosh was called to an isolated spot, offered poisoned liquor, and died later that night on October 18. His wife Bandana filed a complaint, leading to the arrests. Police are still searching for the remaining three accused.
