Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar-Dubai flight was cancelled on Monday due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, according to Biju Patnaik International Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan.
The cancellation is a result of airspace restrictions across several West Asian destinations, including Muscat, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai.
The flight, which operates three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), had departed as usual last Friday. However, the airline informed passengers in advance about the cancellation, citing the developing situation in the region.
“The flight had operated normally last Friday, but airspace restrictions over Muscat, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai since Saturday led to today’s cancellation. Passengers were informed in advance, and authorities hope for their understanding in this matter,” Pradhan said.
Pradhan stated that the decision to cancel Monday’s flight was taken a day earlier after assessing the situation. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is monitoring the situation daily, and flights arriving from western sectors are affected, while eastbound flights remain unaffected
