Bhubaneswar: Akhandalamani Temple in Bhadrak is observing a 13-hour closure today due to a lunar eclipse. The temple will remain closed from 6:15 PM to 6:47 PM, and no darshan or rituals will be allowed during this time. The temple doors will reopen after the eclipse, and normal rituals will resume.
The temple will reopen for darshan and rituals at 6:47 PM after the lunar eclipse. Due to the Ketugrastha Chandra Grahana, the cooking and consumption period started at 6:15 PM, and all rituals are prohibited until 6:47 PM. Special rituals were performed at 3 AM, including Mangala Alati, Mahasnana, and Gharshana Lagi, and the deity was dressed in Digambara Besha.
As per tradition, all morning rituals were completed before 6:15 am suspending darshan for 13 hours.
After the eclipse, the temple will undergo a cleansing ceremony (Marjana) at 7 PM, followed by Mahasnana (ritual bath) of the deity. Other rituals, including Dola Niti, reading of the new Panjika, and public darshan will be held.
