Cuttack: A CRPF jawan was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a rented house in Cuttack city, triggering a police investigation into the incident. The deceased has been identified as CRPF Havildar Diti Krishna Panda, who was posted in Jharkhand and had recently come home on leave.
The incident took place at a rented house located in Nayabazar under the jurisdiction of CRRI police station. According to preliminary information, Panda was at home with his wife during the Holi festival on Wednesday while their two sons were away. It is suspected that a dispute broke out between the couple over some issue.
Later in the afternoon, Panda’s body was reportedly found hanging inside the house. However, circumstances surrounding the death have raised several questions, particularly as his wife was present in the house at the time.
Before police reached the spot, Panda’s body had already been brought down. He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following the incident, the body was sent for post-mortem examination on Thursday.
News of the CRPF jawan’s death has shocked his colleagues and locals. Fellow CRPF personnel have expressed deep grief over the incident and demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to his death.
Meanwhile, personnel of CRRI police station have launched an investigation and are examining multiple aspects of the case, including the events that transpired inside the house, the nature of the couple’s relationship, and whether Panda’s death was a case of suicide or involved other factors. Authorities said further details would emerge after the investigation progresses.
