Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Sunday announced that darshan of the Holy Trinity at the Jagannath Temple will remain temporarily suspended for four hours on Monday (March 9) due to the performance of the ritual ‘Khasapada Lagi’.
According to the temple administration, the ritual will be conducted on March 9, 2026, on the occasion of Chaitra Krishna Shashthi Tithi. Following the completion of the second Bhogamandap Bhog, general darshan for devotees will remain closed from 6 pm to 10 pm.
The ‘Khasapada Lagi’ ritual is performed two to three times a year at the Shreepayars (holy feet) of the deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra—during which the feet of the deities are covered with white cloth as part of the sacred observance.
During the ritual period, entry into the sanctum sanctorum will remain restricted, and devotees will not be able to view the deities.
The temple administration informed that darshan will resume after the completion of the ‘Khasapada Lagi Niti’, allowing devotees to have darshan during the night hours. Devotees have been advised to plan their visit accordingly and extend cooperation to the temple authorities during the scheduled ritual.
