Bhubaneswar: In a heartwarming act of generosity, 32-year-old Ritesh Pradhan gave a new lease of life to three patients through organ donation after his untimely death in Serenda village under Handapa police limits in Angul district.
Ritesh, who worked for a private company, suffered a road accident on March 4. He was returning to Angul from Bantala on his motorcycle when it collided with another vehicle near Sardhapur. Locals immediately rushed him to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition.
As his condition worsened, he was first shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and later admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Doctors confirmed he had sustained severe brain injuries with blood clots, leaving very little chance of survival.
Upon learning of his condition, Ritesh’s family decided to donate his organs, a decision supported by his wife. On Monday, doctors successfully retrieved his liver and both kidneys. The kidneys were transplanted into two patients at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, while the liver was sent to a private hospital for transplantation.
Though Ritesh could not be saved, his selfless act has helped save three lives and earned widespread praise for his family.
