Bhubaneswar: An unidentified body was found floating in the Kuakhai River near Barimunda village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Friday morning.
According to reports, local residents first spotted the body floating in the river and immediately alerted the Mancheswar police. A police team soon reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased might have drowned while taking a bath in the river. Locals said the body had only a towel wrapped around it and appeared to have been in the water for nearly two to three days before it surfaced.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
