Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a group of robbers barged into the house of a Works Department employee near the Fire Station in Rayagada town and looted gold ornaments and household items.
The victim, Basant Kumar Mishra, is currently undergoing treatment at Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Thursday midnight when Mishra was sleeping alone in his house. Five robbers broke into the house, threatened him with a gun, and beat him up. They decamped with gold ornaments, a washing machine, a fridge, a motor cycle, and a gas cylinder, among other items.
Mishra was admitted to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital with injuries on various parts of his body.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident after a complaint was lodged at the Town Police Station on Friday morning.
