Dhenkanal: A 35-year-old elephant was found dead at Bimbola village under Sadar block in Dhenkanal district, with electrocution suspected as the cause of death.
As per reports, the elephant had been destroying crops in the area, prompting farmer Kailsah Pradhan to erect a solar fence around his 10-acre farm. The tusker reported to have died after its trunk and leg came into contact with a solar fence wire last night.
Meanwhile, the Forest Department officials has detained Pradhan for questioning and launched an investigation.
It is learnt that the deceased tusked elephant has one tusk remaining.
