Khordha District Legal Services Authority Holds First Lok Adalat Of 2026, Settles Over 50,000 Cases

Bhubaneswar: The Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bhubaneswar, organized the first Lok Adalat of the year across all judicial and revenue courts in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Banpur, Chilika, Tangi, Begunia, and Jatani.In this successful one-day National Lok Adalat held on Saturday, a total of 88,694 cases were presented for settlement. Out of these, 50,962 cases were amicably resolved through mutual consent.

The settlements resulted in the realization of a substantial amount of Rs 18 crore 55 lakh 56 thousand 149 in revenue, fines, and compromise amounts. Breakdown of settled cases includes:5,323 civil and criminal cases, 45,245 revenue cases,394 pre-litigation cases

The Lok Adalat addressed a wide range of matters, including compoundable criminal cases, cheque bounce (NI Act) cases, bank recovery and loan defaults, motor accident claims, labour disputes, traffic challans, public utility disputes, matrimonial issues, land acquisition, revenue matters, civil cases, unpaid electricity and telephone bills, and various pre-litigation disputes.

District and Sessions Judge, as well as Chairman of the Khordha District Legal Services Authority, Biranchi Narayan Mohanty, congratulated all judicial officers, revenue officials, regional bank managers, telecom and insurance authorities for their contributions to the Lok Adalat’s success.

He also extended appreciation to the participating advocates for their active involvement and urged everyone to make advance preparations for the next National Lok Adalat scheduled on May 9.
