Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested four members of a gang accused of spreading fear and engaging in acts of hooliganism in parts of the city. The arrests were made by the team of Badagada Police Station following an investigation into recent incidents of intimidation and violence.
Those arrested include Sangram, Pratyush, Aditya, and a woman, all of whom are said to be associates of the gang’s alleged kingpin, Ramlulu. Police identified the suspects using CCTV footage collected from the area before taking them into custody.
According to police sources, the group had been involved in multiple incidents of goondaism in localities falling under the jurisdictions of Badagada Police Station and Laxmisagar Police Station. The main accused, Ramlulu, is currently absconding.
Investigators said Ramlulu had allegedly formed his own gang and had been trying to establish dominance in the area through threats and intimidation. A few days ago, he reportedly attacked a lawyer and created panic in the Gautam Nagar banana godown area by brandishing a sword.
Police have intensified efforts to trace and arrest the absconding accused. Further investigation into the activities of the gang is underway.
