Bargarh: A person impersonating a police officer was arrested in Hirakud Reservoir area under Attabira police limits in Bargarh district.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Bikram Behera (33) of Ghulipali village under Town police station, was found wearing a police uniform and terrorizing locals near the Hirakud dam. He was arrested by Atabira police after locals alerted them about his suspicious activities. A motorcyclist accompanying Behera managed to escape from the scene.
A case has been registered against him at Atabira police station.
It is pertinent to mention that Behera has a previous record of impersonating a RTO and was arrested by Bargarh police in 2021.
The police are investigating the matter and interrogating the accused.
“The matter is being investigated, and further action will be taken based on the findings,” said police inspector.
