Jindal Steel’s Iron Ore Mines Win 16 Awards At 43rd Annual Mines Safety Fortnight

Bhubaneswar: Iron ore mines of Jindal Steel received multiple prestigious awards during the 43rd Annual Mines Safety Fortnight, 2025, held in Bhubaneswar on 14th March, 2026. The company’s mining operations secured a total of 16 awards across multiple categories, reaffirming Jindal Steel’s strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, statutory compliance and operational excellence in mining operations.

The awards were presented during the concluding ceremony of the Mines Safety Fortnight in the presence of Ujjwal Tah, Director General of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS). The recognition highlights the consistent efforts of employees, supervisors and management teams in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring safe and responsible mining practices across all operational areas.

Three of the company’s iron ore mines — Kasia Iron & Dolomite Mines, Roida-I Iron Mines and TRB Iron Mines, Tensa — collectively secured the awards across safety, operational discipline, training and infrastructure categories, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to continuous improvement and the philosophy of “Better Than Before.”

Kasia Iron & Dolomite Mines received several top honours including 1st Prize in Overall Performance (Opencast Mines), Mechanical Maintenance, Training Health & Welfare, and Lead Indicators, Emergency Preparedness, Mock Drill & Accident Statistics. The mine also secured 2nd Prize in Publicity & Propaganda and Electrical Maintenance, and 3rd Prize in Occupational Health Centre Facilities.

Roida-I Iron Mines won the 1st Prize in Training, Health & Welfare, highlighting the mine’s strong emphasis on workforce development and employee wellbeing.

TRB Iron Mines, Tensa received multiple recognitions including 2nd Prize in Drilling, Blasting and Handling of Explosives and Publicity & Propaganda, along with 3rd Prize in SMP, Safety & Statutory Compliances and Training, Health & Welfare.

In addition to these mine-level recognitions, Jindal Steel also received several Common Awards, including 1st Prize in Overall Performance (GVTC) – Soyabali, Best Safety Stall, and Group Vocational Training Centre (Facility), along with 3rd Prize in Group Vocational Training Centre (Training).

These accolades highlight Jindal Steel’s continued focus on strengthening safety awareness, enhancing training infrastructure and promoting responsible mining practices across all its operations. The achievements also reflect the collective dedication of the company’s workforce in maintaining high safety standards and operational discipline in line with global best practices.
