Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida congratulated eminent sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik, who has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Census 2027 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Pattnaik, a Padma Shri awardee, will promote awareness about the census through his art. The announcement has been met with widespread acclaim, with many wishing Pattnaik well on social media.
Taking to his X handle, Deputy CM Parida wrote: “We congratulate the renowned sand sculptor Padma Shri @sudarsansand, who has been appointed as the brand ambassador for Census-2027.”
Notably, Census 2027 will be 16th Census in the country and 8th after independence. The census operation in Odisha is scheduled to commence in April. This exercise is a significant update, as the last census was conducted in 2011. The 2021 census, which was initially planned, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has been rescheduled accordingly.
