Bhubaneswar: As many as 40 persons were reportedly hospitalized after a dead snake was found in the Dalma served during a community feast at ward no 10 under Pattamundai Municipality in Kendrapara district.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at Deuli village under Pattamundai police station during a Bhagabat Saptaha programme, where a community feast had been organised for around 400 people. However, during the meal, a poisonous snake was found in the Dalma container, sparking panic. Some people who had eaten the food were rushed to Pattamundai Sub-Divisional Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Others are waiting in line for medical tests, including blood examinations, as a precautionary measure.
Fortunately, all those hospitalized have been discharged after receiving treatment for suspected food poisoning.
It is pertinent to mention that the community feast was organised by a women self-help group.
