Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik celebrated Pakhala Diwas by creating a stunning Pakhala-themed art on Puri beach on Friday.
Sharing his work on social media, Patnaik expressed his love for the traditional Odia delicacy, which is a staple in Odisha’s cuisine. Pakhala, a fermented rice dish, is a popular summer food in the region, known for its cooling properties. The celebration highlights the cultural significance of Pakhala in Odia culture and its popularity among locals and food enthusiasts.
Taking to his X handle, Pattnaik wrote: “Greetings on Pakhala Dibasa. A day dedicated to the most liked Odia delicacy, Pakhala is indeed a great feeling. Here is my sandart at Puri beach in Odisha.”
It is noteworthy to mention that Pakhala is a beloved dish in Odisha, cherished for its simplicity, ease of preparation, and affordability. The recipe got a boost and became famous when former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik invited former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, senior BJP leader L.K. Advani and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury to share pakhala with him at Naveen Niwas.
