Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has suspended Gourahari Pradhan, former Chairman of Puri Municipality in Puri district, from the party with immediate effect.
An official party order stated: “Gourahari Pradhan, former Chairman of Puri Municipality, District Puri, is hereby suspended from the Biju Janata Dal with immediate effect for his involvement in anti-party activities.”
The suspension is part of the BJD’s ongoing disciplinary measures to enforce internal unity and discipline, especially following its transition to opposition status in Odisha. Pradhan, a notable local leader in Puri with a background in municipal governance, has been associated with the BJD for years.
A short while ago, the party also suspended 10 prominent leaders from its youth and student wings with immediate effect, citing their alleged involvement in anti-party activities.
