Senior Congress Leader Jaydev Jena Gets Death Threat, Lodges Complaint

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Jaydev Jena has alleged that he received a death threat via WhatsApp on March 9, 2026.

The malicious message, sent from a mobile number, reportedly warned that he would be killed if he visited Bhubaneswar.

Jena, a former minister, promptly filed a complaint at the Nandipada police station in Keonjhar district on the same day. He has claimed that despite informing high-level authorities—including the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police (DGP), and the Keonjhar Superintendent of Police (SP)—no concrete action has been taken by the police so far.

This is not the first such incident for the senior leader. He reportedly received a similar death threat in 2025, highlighting a pattern of intimidation.

In a press conference held on Saturday, Jena publicly questioned the inaction by law enforcement. He expressed concern over the state of justice in Odisha, stating: “If the police fail to act even on a complaint from a prominent politician like me, how can ordinary citizens expect protection or justice?
