Bhubaneswar: In a disturbing development, former MLA Sadashiv Pradhani has been ostracised and expelled from the Bhatara community following his decision to arrange his daughter’s marriage outside the caste.
The decision was taken during a community meeting held in Dhamanaguda village, Nabarangpur district, on Saturday. Members of the Akhila Bharatiya Bhatara Bikash Parisad (All India Bhatara Development Council) convened to discuss the matter at length.
Community leaders cited the proposed inter-caste union as a direct violation of longstanding Bhatra traditions and customs, which traditionally discourage such marriages. The wedding of his daughter is reportedly scheduled for next month.
After extensive deliberations, the council unanimously resolved to impose social boycott and expel the former legislator from the community fold. Pradhani, a prominent political figure from the region, has remained silent on the matter so far, with no public response issued.
