Cuttack: The Odisha Health & Family Welfare Department on Sunday announced a major reshuffle of key officials across the state’s top medical institutions, including SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCB MCH), Cuttack, following the tragic March 16 ICU fire that claimed 12 lives and left 20 patients injured.
As per the official notification, Prof. (Dr.) Prativa Panda, who was serving as Dean & Principal of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital (PRMMCH), Baripada, has been appointed as Dean & Principal of SCB Medical College, Cuttack. Her appointment forms part of routine administrative measures aimed at strengthening leadership and faculty positions in Odisha’s premier medical institutions.
Prof. (Dr.) Lucy Das, the outgoing Dean & Principal of SCB MC, has been posted as Professor of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery at SCB MCH, while continuing her duties in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Dr. Nirmal Chandra Mohapatra, Professor & Head of Orthopaedics at SCB MCH, has been moved to serve as Dean & Principal of PRMMCH, Baripada. Meanwhile, Dr. Jyotish Chandra Choudhury, Professor & Head of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at SCB MCH, has been appointed as Superintendent of SCB MCH, Cuttack.
Other key transfers include Dr. Satyajit Ray, Professor of Orthopaedics at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sundargarh, who has been transferred to SCB MCH, and Dr. Tapas Kumar Panigrahi, Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, previously on deputation to SCB MCH, who has been posted as Associate Professor at GMCH, Sundargarh.
The reshuffle, issued by order of the Governor and signed by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Government, comes as part of broader efforts to improve administration and patient care across Odisha’s top medical colleges.
