Sundargarh: Two persons, a husband and wife, were electrocuted while carrying out work on the roof of a house in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday, police said.
The incident occurred at Bhedabahal village under Sadar police limits when Anant Kainsaria (60) and his wife Sumitra Kainsaria (58), residents of Chhotabanga under Lefripada police station, were engaged in installing a grill with the help of a ladder at the house of one Yogendra Patel.
During the work, the couple accidentally came into contact with a live overhead electric wire passing above the roof, resulting in a severe electric shock.
On seeing the couple in distress, another local resident, Bas Kamar (50), rushed to their rescue but also sustained serious injuries after coming in contact with the live wire.
All three were immediately rescued and shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared Anant and Sumitra dead on arrival. Bas Kamar is currently undergoing treatment, sources said.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
