Bhubaneswar: The state government is gearing up to repair 186 non-functional tube wells across the state within the next 48 hours, Minister of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Rabi Narayan Naik, informed the Odisha Assembly today.
Responding to a query by MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Naik said there are 537,204 tube wells in the state, with 537,018 currently operational. Over the last two years, the state government has installed 27,335 new tube wells statewide including 2,763 in Koraput district.
Naik outlined the government’s strategy to tackle the impending heatwave, emphasizing efforts to repair existing tube wells and ensure uninterrupted water supply. Koraput district, with 18,676 tube wells (18,671 functional), is also receiving attention, with repair work underway on the 5 non-functional ones.
