Bhubaneswar: Currently, 1294 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) are operational in Odisha, revealed Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, in the Odisha Legislative Assembly today.
The Minister’s statement came in response to a query raised by MLA Sanjib Kumar Mallick, highlighting the government’s efforts to strengthen FPOs and enhance market linkages for farmers.
Replying to the question, Singh Deo informed the Assembly that currently, 1294 FPOs are operational in Odisha, with 924 engaged in agriculture and horticulture activities. Many FPOs face market linkage issues, which have come to the government’s notice. The government has signed MoUs with 80 agencies in the last 3 years for marketing and input supply. The Directorate of Agriculture is providing training and exposure visits to enhance FPO capacity under the Support to FPO scheme
