Addressing a press conference, Borigumma SDPO Satyabrata Lenka said the first incident dates back to September 25, 2025, when Sahil Kochim of Nabarangpur was returning home along the Raniguda road. Near Dulaguda, two miscreants intercepted him, threatened him with a lethal weapon, and robbed him of ₹7,580 in cash, a silver bracelet and a mobile phone before fleeing the spot.

In a separate incident reported the previous night, Karunakar Panda was returning home after closing his shop in Borigumma with a bag containing ₹60,000 in cash. A miscreant snatched the bag and attempted to escape.
