Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Department has directed strict action to ensure uniforms reach students well before the summer vacation this year. Last year, school children received their uniforms very late — almost at the time of annual examinations — causing inconvenience to students and parents.
To avoid a repeat of the situation, the department has now shown urgency in the matter. School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond has written letters to all District Collectors and District Education Officers (DEOs), instructing them to complete the purchase, stitching, and distribution of school uniforms before the onset of summer vacation.
In his letter, the Minister emphasized that timely distribution of uniforms is a priority for the 2026-27 academic year. He noted that there was a significant delay in procurement, stitching, and distribution of uniforms in the previous academic session as per the laid-down schedule.
“Necessary instructions have been issued to all concerned to take proactive steps so that school uniforms are distributed to students within the stipulated time frame, well before the summer vacation,” the Minister said.
The department has asked district administrations to monitor the entire process closely to ensure smooth and timely execution.
