Bhubaneswar: A young man allegedly set himself on fire at Rajmahal Chowk in Bhubaneswar on Friday, triggering panic in the busy area.
According to initial reports, the youth poured petrol on his body and set himself ablaze in a suspected suicide attempt. Passersby and police personnel rushed to the spot and managed to rescue him before shifting him to Capital Hospital for emergency treatment.
The critically injured youth is reportedly a resident of Kedarpalli. However, the exact reason behind the self-immolation attempt remains unclear.
Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Further details are awaited.
