Bhubaneswar: A 30-year-old man from Sundargarh district was allegedly strangled to death and his body set ablaze in a forest in Jharkhand’s Simdega district, police said on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Shiva Sahu. His burnt body was recovered from Tikra forest under Jaldega police station limits on March 11. Jharkhand Police have arrested three persons, all hailing from Odisha, in connection with the murder.
The accused are Kishore Kerketta (35), Sanjay Kerketta (38), and Budhu Lohra (38).According to Simdega Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Baiju Oraon, the main accused Kishore Kerketta confessed that Shiva Sahu had been sexually harassing his wife for a long time in Sundargarh district.
Enraged upon learning about the alleged harassment, the trio planned the murder.On March 10, the accused abducted Sahu from Odisha and brought him to the Tikra forest in Jharkhand, where they strangled him with a rope.
To destroy evidence, they poured petrol on the body and set it on fire.An FIR has been registered and a case filed against the trio. All three accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
