Bhubaneswar: As many as 1,399 incidents of attacks and misbehaviour against government officials were reported across Odisha over the last two years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the Assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to a question by BJD legislator Prasanna Acharya, the Chief Minister said 632 such incidents were recorded during the 2024–25 financial year. The number rose to 767 in 2025–26, indicating an upward trend.
District-wise data revealed that Balasore reported the highest number of cases at 157, followed by Mayurbhanj (99), Puri (98), Cuttack (91), Bolangir (86), and Jajpur (65), Majhi stated.
The Chief Minister further informed that the Odisha Police arrested at least 1,318 persons in connection with these incidents during the two-year period.
The disclosure highlights growing concerns over the safety of government personnel in the state, even as enforcement agencies continue to take action against offenders.
