Bhubaneswar: In a crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Sunday apprehended a government employee in Nayagarh district for allegedly accepting a bribe from a pensioner.
The accused, identified as Saroj Kumar Sahoo, a Senior Assistant in the office of the Sub-Treasury Officer at Khandapada, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹3,000 to facilitate the credit of pensionary benefits.
According to Vigilance officials, Sahoo had allegedly demanded the bribe from the complainant, threatening to block the processing of pension bills if the amount was not paid. Aggrieved by the harassment, the pensioner approached Vigilance authorities, following which a trap was laid.
