Bhubaneswar: In a proactive move to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the State’s flagship Aahaar programme, the Housing & Urban Development Department has issued comprehensive directives to streamline and secure the supply of cooking gas for Aahaar Kitchens across Odisha.
The Director of Municipal Administration, Arindam Dakua, has communicated with all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and Presidents of District and City Aahaar Societies, emphasizing the need to strengthen the logistical backbone supporting the programme. Currently, 170 Aahaar Kendras, supported by around 90 centralised kitchens, are providing affordable and nutritious meals to thousands of beneficiaries every day.
To ensure continuity in service delivery, local authorities have been instructed to immediately assess cooking gas availability within their jurisdictions and establish close coordination with gas suppliers, distributors, and other relevant agencies. The directive calls for timely and proactive measures to prevent any disruption in meal preparation and distribution.
This strategic focus on strengthening last-mile logistics and inter-agency coordination reflects the State Government’s unwavering commitment to food security and urban welfare. By reinforcing operational resilience, the initiative aims to ensure that the Aahaar programme continues to provide reliable and dignified service to all beneficiaries across Odisha.
