Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a woman brutally assaulted her mother-in-law allegedly over suspicion of witchcraft at Udala in Mayurbhanj district, injuring her severely. The incident occurred at their residence at Ward No. 6 NN under Udala police limits.
As per reports, Sabitri Dutt was sitting on the veranda when her daughter-in-law, Mami Dutta, attacked her with the help of vegetable cutter.
Despite her cries, Mami continued the assault, even attempting to behead her. Sabitri’s son witnessed the incident but remained silent. Neighbours rushed to the scene after hearing Sabitri’s screams and informed police.
Police arrived, took Mami into custody, and shifted Sabitri to a nearby hospital. Mami claims the deity possessed her, leading to the violent outburst.
