Bhubaneswar: Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister for Housing & Urban Development informed the Odisha Legislative Assembly that as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 3.0 on Municipal Solid Waste Management, the sanctioned strength of Plant Managers — previously known as Swachha Sathi Supervisors — has been fixed for providing services in 115 cities across the state.
The Minister’s reply came in response to a question raised by Congress MLA Sofia Firdous from Barabati-Cuttack constituency.
In her query, Sofia Firdous had sought details of the sanctioned posts of Swachha Sathi Supervisors in Municipal Corporations and Municipalities across the state, indicating ULB-wise strength and remuneration. She specifically asked about the status of such supervisory posts in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), including the number of wards and supervisors presently engaged.
The Minister clarified that the nomenclature has been changed from “Swachha Sathi Supervisors” to “Plant Managers” following the issuance of SOP 3.0.
The Minister further informed the House that as per the ‘Standard Operating Procedure 3.0 on Municipal Solid Waste Management’ issued by the Housing & Urban Development Department, prior to this, a total of 14 Plant Managers were engaged by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation at various Wealth Centres. Incentive is being provided as per the provisions laid down in SOP 3.0.
